The Oz small country town, like its American counterpart, has achieved mythical status in literature and cinema as a universe all its own. A good premise. It appears the fruit is the fountain of youth......but with consequences. "I'm in the scene sitting on this lounge and looking at the house I know, because I know it well from the first season, and next minute Gwen and Ray are sitting in front of me and I've got to act. From the opening scene I was hooked. I watched the entire season in a day, and yes I was hungover. Nine Entertainment Co (the publisher of this website) owns and operates the streaming service Stan. Overall, I enjoyed it. Stan original series Bloom was certainly a stand-out in 2019, so it's no wonder that a second season was announced to be in production back in November. It's a situation not lost on 72-year-old Brown as he acts opposite 30-year-old Tonkin. "And that's a lovely feeling because you've done your part. This brilliantly conceived framing and cinematography create a dark atmosphere for the triumphs and failures that are the lives of the characters. Watch WHERE it grows. She's reverted to her youth and the couple are living it up far from Mullan, dancing the night away at a club. "We just went for a beer when we first met and just chatted and he's just a straight-up Aussie bloke, it was nice to see that," he said. Loved the town. All in all, a stand out Australian production. It doesn't represent an actual rural town. So sad that it let us down. Slowly the story evolves to yield a complex web of connection between the main cast. Such a fascinating concept. While Australian stalwart actors Bryan Brown and Jacki Weaver give it some street cred, the young actors (particularly Ryan Corr) really steal the show. WATCH: The first official trailer for Stan original series, Bloom. A little too long, it is a commitment but worth the journey. It's the final day of shooting and there's a mixture of sadness and contentment in the air, as the cast and crew wrap up filming and prepare to say goodbye. Rewatch/Recommend - I would not watch it again as it is at times quite heavy and dark yet I will recommend it. This one has them all. And now, the highly-anticipated award-winning series has returned (April 9) ahead of the Easter long weekend. "I loved this so much that when I got to do a scene where I go to Gwen [Phoebe Tonkin] and Ray [Bryan Brown]'s house, I was there before anyone that day and I'm walking in going, 'Oh my God, this is where they shot those scenes. In Bloom the 52-year-old plays Anne, a former bio-tech CEO who has heard about the magical berries growing in the small town of Mullan. Where people perished in the deluge a plant with glowing fruit appear. "I watched Paper Planes and he's just the most beautiful actor and lovely human being, and so talented," she said. Even better as it's an Australian Stan Original. A bittersweet energy bubbles away on the set of Bloom Season 2. Great plot, actors and entertainment. The different ways people respond is portrayed really well. The photography and settings are visually pleasing, the acting great. And I hope someone can put that mystical plant in a green house and grow it for all the characters to take. If you thought the magic land of Oz was all glorious sunny beaches and endless rolling plains, think again. Worth a look. Powerhouse Tones & I’s version of ‘Forever Young’ from Triple J’s ‘Like A Version’ is the haunting song over the new teaser and it sets the tone for what is going to be an incredible second season. FAQ | The script could have been edited to four episodes as six is much too long for a dragged out premise. This series has really surprised me. After many years of being totally disgusted with any of the film or tv productions coming out of Australia with the exception of the Underbelly series, I was very pleasantly surprised and entertained by this series. Worth a look. And such outdoors scenes as there are, are usually rendered in that gloriously overcast and pregnant greyish hue that is meteorologically such a daily event in the Oz 24-hour weather cycle. Enjoyment - I was fully engaged the whole time. The minorities and the mentally ill are all ably represented in this well acted but horribly executed offering. A superb slow burn series that mesmerizes with its cinematic mood.
